There are few bloggers as synonymous with swimwear as Tash Oakley and her business partner/best friend Devin Brugman. The Australian Instagram stars have gained a cult following with ‘A Bikini A Day’ (3.2 million followers between them, and counting), which they’ve parlayed into a highly successful bikini label of their own, Monday Swimwear.
As Monday Swimwear’s newest collection, Paradise Found, drops, BAZAAR tapped Tash to answer all our burning pre-summer questions. Which bikini shape suits my body best? How do I feel confident at the beach? How does she get her body in summer-ready shape?
Here, Tash’s tried-and-tested beauty, style and general life philosophy on all things swimwear. If you’d like to catch up with the A Bikini A Day girls in person, Natasha and Devin will be hosting a pop-up for their new line at La Piscine in Sydney’s Darling Point on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th November, for an exclusive showing of their new Monday Swimwear line.
We’ve worn every style of swimwear, but it’s still hard to say which is universally flattering because every body type is so unique. If we had to name one it would be a classic tie side triangle bikini (like our Monday Swimwear ‘Palma’ Suit), mainly because it’s adjustable so you can alter it to fit your own body type. Flattery in swimwear really comes down to adjustability, which is why every suit in our Monday range are fully adjustable.
process in terms of getting great fit for your pieces?
In order to achieve a fit we are completely satisfied with, it’s important we allow ourselves plenty of time to create it. Because people are so focused on trends, a lot of brands work with super tight time constraints as a means to deliver styles that are hot right now—giving comfortability and fit a back seat in the design process.
One of our main objectives is to deliver pieces that don’t sacrifice the essentials for style. We’ve spent years fitting our suits to different body shapes—not just the industry standard—and by doing this, we’ve developed a dependable foundation for a ‘fit’ that allows us to experiment with different styles, and stay on trend!
so healthy and glowing?
Our beauty routines are simple but consistent, and mainly focus on hydrating and nourishing our skin. Our career requires us to travel all year round and visit a lot of summer destinations, so it would be very easy for us to allow our skin to become dehydrated and over-exposed to the sun.
We exfoliate and moisturise our faces and bodies regularly, and surprisingly avoid the sun as much as possible. Devin and I are always applying SPF-50 and never put our faces directly in the sun for more than a few minutes. I personally love St. Tropez tanning products like the Face Sheet Mask, and the One Night Only glss for a golden glow on shoots.
On a daily basis, morning and night, I use a a gentle Soy Face Wash fromFresh and Olay Total Effects Moisturiser, but the real secret to glowing skin is drinking lots of water and making sure you get your beauty sleep—8 hours a night.
